World Memo

Soul Society once ran a program called Project Spearhead that placed artificial combat souls into dead human bodies to fight Hollows; it was cancelled because it would force corpses to fight, and all Mod-Souls in development were slated for destruction.
- Reiryoku as Shinigami life energy
A Shinigami's Reiryoku is their life energy, so its depletion or excess bears on their survival.
- Jibakurei take half a year to become Hollow
Without damage to its chest hole, a Jibakurei takes about half a year to become a Hollow; damage to the chest hole speeds up the process.

Reiraku are the compression and manifestation of Reiatsu in the atmosphere, and the Reiraku of Shinigami are colored differently from those of normal Souls.
- Hollows target high-Reiryoku people
Hollows tend to attack people who have considerable Reiryoku.
- Strong Reiryoku release affects nearby humans
When a Shinigami releases strong Reiryoku while fighting Hollows, the release affects ordinary humans nearby, even those who did not see the fight.
- Balance of Souls between worlds
Shinigami are called Balancers in Soul Society, and roughly equal numbers of Souls are kept in Soul Society and the Human World at all times, with Souls able to travel between the two worlds.
- One-month execution waiting period
In Soul Society an execution usually comes only after a waiting period of about one month, and this differs from how executions are carried out for humans.
- Hakusui and Saketsu as Reiryoku organs
A Soul's Hakusui serves as the source of its Reiryoku and its Saketsu serves as a booster for it; when both are destroyed the Soul is left like one with no spiritual powers and must first regain the lost Reiryoku.
- Reiryoku rises fastest in mortal danger
Reiryoku increases fastest when a Soul is in mortal danger, so a Soul facing a lethal attack can outpace it by raising its Reiryoku.
- Hunger signals imminent Hollow transformation
A Soul that begins to feel hungry is about to transform into a Hollow. Feeling thirst is not a sign of this.
- Seventy-two hour limit in the Shatter Shaft pit
In the Shatter Shaft training pit, a bound trainee has 72 hours to climb out as a Shinigami before the trainer's side kills them.
In this pit, it usually takes about 70 hours for a Soul to transform into a Hollow.

Uryū names the street where the new Hollow will appear before Rukia's Denreishinki reports the order. The source of his knowledge is not explained.

Shun'ō says Ichigo is the reason the Shun Shun Rikka were born, but Tsubaki cuts off the explanation before it is given.
- Suppressed Reiryoku origin (Episode 14)
Rukia conjectures that Ichigo's power was almost completely suppressed until just now, which is why she sensed nothing from him and why no Hollow attacked him before. The cause of the suppression is unexplained.
Ichigo's Reiryoku seems to stay at maximum without conscious control, so Uryū infers he holds an immense reserve; where this comes from is still unstated.
- Unnamed 'they' Yoruichi refers to (Episode 15)
Yoruichi tells Urahara to stop pretending and says he knows 'they' are here. Urahara does not deny it and suggests discussing it later. Who 'they' are is not named.
- Source of Ichigo's transformation (Episode 17)
Saidō asks how a Human like Ichigo can transform this way and how he got the ability. Ichigo refuses to answer, so the source remains unexplained.
The tassels on Ichigo's Zanpakutō move by themselves and then burst off as a wave of Reiatsu is released, and Ichigo himself does not understand why he feels great and no longer in pain.

- Ichigo's potential to become a monster (Episode 19)
Saidō notes that a Shinigami's Reiryoku is their life energy and asserts that Ichigo's immense power means he could become a monster, a possibility left open.
Ichigo's body stays intact while the mask forms, which Urahara reads as proof he is resisting and may still become a Shinigami again.
- The inner-world man's unheard name (Episode 19)
The man in Ichigo's inner world says his name, but Ichigo cannot hear it; Ichigo later realizes who he might be.
Battle Record

| Ichigo Kurosaki | Chain of Fate Encroachment | A chain whose links cycle between eating for a few minutes and sleeping for several hours; each Encroachment makes the links' mouths chew the other links, and the final Encroachment has the links devour each other and the chain's base on the chest, leaving a hole in the chest and bringing a Hollow mask forming on the face. |
| Tessai Tsukabishi | Bakudō #99 Part 1 | Binds the target's arms; Tessai uses it to bind Ichigo's arms in the training pit until the lesson is over. |

Can carry his Reiryoku into another person through the blade; releasing too much power at once makes the blade glow, distort, and lose its integrity. |
| Rukia Kuchiki | Gokon Tekkō | Rukia puts on the Gokon Tekkō and rushes at a target, pushing the target's soul out of its body. |
| Kisuke Urahara | Shitonegaeshi | Urahara uses Shitonegaeshi to push an opponent over and pin him to the ground. |
| Renji Abarai | Zabimaru | Shikai of Renji's Zanpakutō: a segmented blade that extends and retracts, linked by a thread connecting its segments; it can pierce an opponent's shoulder and be pulled back through the wound. |
| Ichigo Kurosaki | Gikongan | Artificial soul pill kept in a duck-headed canister; when swallowed it forces the user's regular soul out of the body, leaving the body to be inhabited by the substitute soul. |
| Uryū Ishida | Heilig Pfeil | Arrow generated and drawn back by Uryū, then released; it arcs across Karakura Town and pierces a Hollow's head as the Hollow enters the Human World. Can split apart mid-flight to kill several Hollows at once, and can be fired as a giant arrow straight up into the air. |
