Episode Summary

School Trip Time, First Period

The class's three-day Kyoto trip doubles as an assassination assignment. In Gion, high school delinquents from another school beat Nagisa's group and abduct Kanzaki and Kayano; their leader recognizes Kanzaki, who once played in disguise to escape her strict father's demands.

Using Korosensei's huge guidebook and his map of hideouts, Nagisa, Karma, Sugino and Okuda find them, and Korosensei, in a black hood, has already taken care of the reinforcements. His retort to the delinquents, that wherever a fish lives it grows beautiful if it swims forward, clears Kanzaki's doubts, and the group resumes the trip without attempting the assassination.

Recent Timeline

  • Storage shed trap and class apology (Episode 4)

Irina lured Korosensei into a storage shed where her hidden henchmen opened fire, but he detected the unfamiliar adult men by their body odor, remained unharmed, and left them unconscious before punishing her in front of the class. After she insulted the class over exam focus and vowed to kill them, the students rioted; she then wrote an English sentence for them to recite, used her own example to show why language matters, and apologized. The class responded by nicknaming her Bitch-sensei.

  • Poison attempt, mountain trip, and post-assembly clash (Episode 5)

Okuda, skilled in chemistry but weak at surprise attacks, prepared a poison with Korosensei's guidance; he drank it, revealing it activated his cells, and explained that assassination requires language skills to deceive a target. Class E, isolated from the main building, hurried down the mountain past a bridge, snakes, falling rocks and bees to reach an assembly on time, where the principal mocked them and the presenter forgot their handouts until Korosensei supplied handwritten copies. Afterward other students confronted Nagisa and demanded Class E stay submissive; when one threatened to kill him, Nagisa noted they had never actually tried killing anyone, which Korosensei took as proof Class E would not yield.

  • Chairman's visit and top-fifty ultimatum (Episode 6)

Chairman Asano visited to insist that Class E stay at the bottom in both grades and treatment, since fear of falling into it motivates the other students, and ordered Korosensei to stop its bottom-ranked students from defying regular students. When some students argued that the assassination reward was more realistic than studying, Korosensei declared them unqualified as assassins. Warning that he would flatten the school and leave if they had no other source of confidence, he demanded that every student place in the top fifty of the next day's midterms.

  • Midterm scope change and Karma's attack (Episode 6)

Two days before the midterms the scope of every subject changed, and unexpected questions overwhelmed Class E. Karasuma challenged the tests' fairness, and a main-building teacher said the chairman had personally taught the changed material to the other classes. After the exams Karma Akabane attacked the dejected Korosensei and revealed he had still earned a perfect math score despite the changes. He chose to stay in Class E, and Korosensei denied running away and promised to strike back in the final exams.

  • Gion abduction of Kanzaki and Kayano (Episode 7)

On the Kyoto trip, high school delinquents from another school ambushed Nagisa's group on the quiet Gion route Kanzaki had chosen, beat Karma, Nagisa and Sugino, and drove off with Kanzaki and Kayano. Using Korosensei's guidebook and his map of likely hideouts, the group found them, and Korosensei, in a black hood, had already dealt with the reinforcements. The group resumed the trip without attempting the assassination.

  • Class E's place in the school system

Being in Class 3-E marks students for discrimination even after graduation, and the chairman deliberately keeps the class at the bottom in grades and treatment so that fear of falling into it drives the other students. To escape, a student must rank in the top 50 of the 186 third-years and get permission from their former homeroom teacher.

  • Kyoto trip doubling as an assassination

The three-day school trip to Kyoto doubles as an assassination assignment. The students move around in groups and choose sightseeing routes that give a government-hired sniper chances to shoot Korosensei, who has handed out a dictionary-thick guidebook he wrote himself.

  • Kyoto history of assassinations

Kyoto is a city where many influential figures were assassinated in the past, which makes it a fitting destination for a class whose assignment is assassination.
