Hitomi confesses her crush on Kamijo and gives Sayaka a day to confess, and that night Sayaka breaks down before Madoka and then fights Elsa Maria alone, ending by bisecting the witch as Madoka pleads for her to stop.

Recent Timeline

  • Hitomi's ritual rescue (Episode 4)

Under a Witch's kiss, Hitomi led Madoka toward a group suicide that promised a better world free of living bodies. Madoka halted it and was pulled into a Witch's barrier. Sayaka arrived in time with a finishing attack and ended the threat, though Madoka was shaken by the change in Sayaka's appearance.

  • Sayaka's contract and first battles (Episode 5)

Sayaka made her contract with Kyubey on the hospital roof, forged her Soul Gem, and debuted as a Magical Girl. Escorting the newly healed Kamijo there, she watched his parents and staff return his violin, and he played it for her.

Madoka asked Homura at the cafe to protect or befriend Sayaka, but Homura refused to make promises she could not keep and told Madoka to give up on her. Kyoko then halted Sayaka's fight with the Familiar Anja, proposing that Familiars feed on people until they become Witches. Sayaka refused, Kyoko's attempt to beat her down failed as Sayaka healed, and a duel to the death began until Homura intervened to protect Sayaka and stop Madoka's contract.

  • Kyosuke's discharge and Sayaka's revival (Episode 6)

Kyosuke was discharged early from the hospital because his rehabilitation had progressed ahead of schedule, a fact Sayaka learned from a staff member.

Madoka apologized to Sayaka and threw away her Soul Gem. Sayaka then collapsed and stopped responding, and Kyubey explained that her body had become an empty shell. Homura retrieved the Soul Gem and Sayaka revived.

  • Pain demonstration and church rift (Episode 7)

Kyubey demonstrated the pain a Soul Gem would cause by inflicting spear-stab-level pain through it, warning that ignoring pain can slow reactions to injury.

At the abandoned church, Sayaka rejected Kyoko's apple, accusing it of being stolen and refusing any gratitude. She left Kyoko frustrated, ending their attempt to reconcile.

  • Defeat of the witch Elsa Maria (Episode 7)

Sayaka charged the witch Elsa Maria and was injured by its vines and snake-like creatures. She refused Kyoko's rescue, cut through the vines, and bisected the witch, ending the fight bloodied and laughing, having let the pain go numb.
