After a retreat to the sixth floor, Rudeus proposes searing the decapitated necks with fire to prevent regeneration, and the party agrees to try it.

Recent Timeline

• Journey across the desert to Rapan (Season 2 Episode 19)

Rudeus and Elinalise reach the Teleportation Circle Ruins in Lumen Forest, enter through the stone tablet emblem, and cross to Begaritt Continent on a two-way circle. They then trek across the desert toward Rapan. In the night, Rudeus is drawn from the Earth Fortress by a scent and nearly makes a sexual advance on the sleeping Elinalise, until she speaks Cliff's name and stops him. A Succubus attacks outside; Elinalise kills her after the creature reveals its true form and takes flight. Later, rather than detour around a cliff, Rudeus lifts them to the top with Earth Lance. Two Griffons attack: Rudeus kills the first with Stone Cannon and Fireball, and Elinalise pins the second with her Estoc so Rudeus can finish it with Stone Cannon.

• Rescue of Roxy in the Teleportation Labyrinth (Season 2 Episode 20)

A month after Roxy vanishes into a Teleportation Circle, Rudeus and Paul's group enter the S-rank Teleportation Labyrinth and descend through its floors. On the third floor, Rudeus rescues the nearly exhausted Roxy from an assault by Iron Crawlers and Mad Skulls by freezing the monster horde with ice magic.

• Clearing the fourth floor and finding the stairs (Season 2 Episode 21)

On the fourth floor, Rudeus's Quagmire sinks the enemies and Roxy coordinates Icicle Edge, clearing the first armored-enemy encounter: Rudeus's Stone Cannon fells the Armored Warrior fighting Elinalise while Paul finishes the other. Geese burns a talfro root whose smoke drives off the Devouring Devils, confirming the book's accuracy and leading Paul to keep exploring rather than return to Rapan. In the final room, recalling a similar ruin that held a Teleportation Magic Circle to Begaritt, Rudeus has Geese search for hidden stairs; Geese finds a hollow floor by tapping with his sword pommel, and Rudeus breaks it open with Stone Cannon, revealing stairs that lead down toward a deep blood-red glowing Teleportation Magic Circle.

• Paul's death to the Manatite Hydra (Season 2 Episode 22)

On the seventh floor the party defeats the Manatite Hydra by searing each severed neck with fire, but Paul is killed after losing his lower body. Elinalise and Talhand are wounded along the way, and Rudeus loses his left hand. Zenith is freed from the Magic Crystal in the process.

• Zenith awakens as a husk (Season 2 Episode 22)

Zenith, freed from the crystal that held her, wakes four days later. She no longer responds as a person and utters incomprehensible words, leaving Rudeus heartbroken.
