Episode Summary

August 26

Taiki tells Hina he still likes Chinatsu and will keep trying; she says she doesn't mind, though inside she is far from fine. Chinatsu, now vice-captain, admits to her mother on a birthday call that she doubts herself, and her mother tells her to try and to lean on others.

On her birthday Chinatsu asks to go somewhere, and Taiki takes her to a beach he visited as a child. He brings out a small cake and candles, and promises their bracelets will match again once his snaps next year.

A downpour and a landslide strand them at an inn with one room, and Taiki tells his family others are with them. That night they apologize to each other, he for the fireworks 'group' that never happened and she for drawing a line between them, and the next morning Chinatsu greets her seventeen-year-old self.

  • Team pressure and mother's advice

With a key senior retired, the coach pushes Chinatsu to lead as vice-captain, and her teammates cheer her on. On a birthday call she tells her mother she doubts herself after missing a key shot, and her mother tells her to try first and to lean on others when things are hard.

  • Seaside birthday outing

Chinatsu asks to go somewhere and Taiki takes her to the seaside. They play until a fall leaves their clothes wet, and Taiki reveals a small cake, ice packs, and candles. The wind blows out the candles before they can eat.

  • Stranded overnight at an inn

A downpour and a landslide keep them from returning home, and they take a single room at an inn. A video call from Nagisa cheers Chinatsu, and Taiki apologizes for having said he would go to the fireworks festival with a group, while Chinatsu takes back her earlier remark that getting closer was 'not a good thing'.

Hina revealed a long-kept romantic love for Taiki, asking him to see her as someone who loved him rather than only as his best friend, and needing no immediate answer since she knew he liked Chinatsu.

  • Seaside birthday outing (Episode 15)
