At the prefectural qualifiers Taiki loses the doubles with Haryu to Hyodo's pair and falls to Yusa in the first round of singles, while Haryu and Chinatsu both win Inter-High places. When Taiki falls ill, Chinatsu nurses him and tells him not to fear distant goals, but soon after she asks him to forget that night and draws a line between them.
