Forced by a test penalty, Cid confesses to Princess Alexia Midgar, the most sought-after girl at school. To his surprise she accepts, saying she had been waiting for someone like him. In a sewer tunnel, Shadow's Atomic spell vaporizes Zenon, who had taken red pills and become the Third Awakened, leaving a large crater at the center of the royal capital. Alexia's kidnapping charge against Cid is cleared, yet her slashing of him behind the school leaves blood but no body, and the case joins the school's seven mysteries.
