Episode Summary

Ball Game Tournament Time

Left out of the ball game tournament, Class E's boys face the baseball club in an exhibition match, with Korosensei as coach. Bunts load the bases and Sugino's triple puts them ahead by three runs, until Chairman Asano forces the club's coach out, takes over, and shuts down the bunts with an all-infield shift.

In the last inning the club copies Class E's bunt to load the bases for Shindo. Karma and Isogai then field at zero distance in front of Shindo at the plate, rattling him until the club loses. Korosensei calls it one win each against the chairman and vows to settle it in the finals, and Sugino and Shindo reconcile.

  • Exhibition match setup

Class E is left out of the ball game tournament and must play exhibition matches in front of the whole school. Sugino wants to beat the baseball club led by Shindo, and Korosensei, acting as coach, drills the boys to bunt Shindo's fastballs.

  • Chairman takes over

Bunts load the bases and Sugino's triple gives Class E three runs, until Chairman Asano makes the club's coach feign illness, takes over, and stops the bunts with an all-infield shift. At Korosensei's suggestion Karma protests the shift, and the club scores two runs.

  • Zero-distance defense

In the last inning Hashimoto copies Class E's bunt and the bases fill for Shindo. Citing the umpire's earlier silence, Karma and Isogai field right in front of Shindo at the plate, he loses his nerve, and Class E wins. Sugino and Shindo part promising a rematch in high school.

Recent Timeline

  • Ritsu joins the class (Episode 9)

The AI 'Autonomously Thinking Fixed Artillery' enrolled as a transfer student, shot off one of Korosensei's tentacle fingers through a blind spot, and wrecked lessons until Terasaka taped her up. Korosensei gave her cooperation software and upgrades, and the class named her Ritsu. When her owners wiped the changes, she had already hidden the software in her memory, defied them, and became the class's ally.

  • Irina's mock assassination contest (Episode 10)

When Irina's master Lovro came to pull her out, Korosensei proposed a one-day contest: whichever of Irina and Lovro first 'killed' Karasuma with an anti-sensei knife would win. Karasuma saw through Irina's drugged drink and disarmed Lovro's frontal attack. At lunch Irina pinned him under a tree with a hidden wire; he blocked her knife but gave in to her pleading and let her land it, and Lovro let her stay.

  • Itona vs Korosensei after-school duel (Episode 11)

Itona Horibe, the second transfer student, arrived with his guardian Shiro, called Korosensei 'brother' and challenged him to a ring duel after school in which stepping out meant death. Tentacles burst from Itona's hair, and Shiro's pressure beam plus the cost of shedding and regrowing let Itona take the lead, but Korosensei tricked him into hitting anti-sensei knives on the floor and tossed him out of the ring wrapped in shed skin. When Itona raged, Shiro knocked him out and took him away; Korosensei's tentacle hand was destroyed on Shiro's anti-sensei robe.

  • Class E asks for assassination training (Episode 11)

After the duel, the students admitted they had been hoping someone else would do the job and asked Karasuma for more assassination training so they could kill their teacher with their own hands. He began tougher after-school drills for volunteers.

  • Class E vs baseball club exhibition match (Episode 12)

At the ball game tournament, Class E's boys played an exhibition match against the baseball club with Korosensei coaching. Bunts loaded the bases and Sugino's triple put them three runs ahead, until the chairman made the club's coach feign illness, took over, and shut down the bunts with an all-infield shift. In the last inning, with the bases loaded on the club's copied bunts, Karma and Isogai fielded at zero distance in front of Shindo, who lost his nerve, and Class E won.

World Memo

  • Crescent moon and the destruction of Earth

At the start of the students' third year the moon suddenly exploded into a permanent crescent. The creature responsible has declared that he will destroy Earth next March in the same way, a standing threat that frames the assassination.

  • Government-sanctioned assassination and reward

The government reluctantly accepted the creature's own offer to teach Class 3-E on condition that he harms no students, and secretly tasked the class with killing him, since public knowledge would cause global panic. A successful assassination is rewarded with 10 billion yen.

  • Anti-sensei weapons

The government developed anti-sensei BBs and knives that are harmless to humans but break down the creature's cells, and supplies them to the students. The same material can be made into clothing: Shiro's white anti-sensei robe destroys Korosensei's tentacles on contact.

  • Isolated Class E and its nickname

Kunugigaoka's Class E is sent every day to an isolated mountaintop campus and discriminated against as the lowest-ranked class, nicknamed the E-as-in-End Class. For school assemblies its students must give up their lunch break to hurry down the mountain and line up before the other classes.

  • Class E's place in the school system

Being in Class 3-E marks students for discrimination even after graduation, and the chairman deliberately keeps the class at the bottom in grades and treatment so that fear of falling into it drives the other students. To escape, a student must rank in the top 50 of the 186 third-years and get permission from their former homeroom teacher.

  • Assassins enrolled as transfer students

The special assassins sent by world leaders join Class E as transfer students. The first, the AI fixed artillery Ritsu, is registered as a student so Korosensei cannot harm her, and she has defied her masters to become the class's ally. The second, Itona Horibe, was meant to arrive with Ritsu and handle close combat but needed more time to be readied; he comes with a guardian named Shiro.

  • Class E at the ball game tournament

At Kunugigaoka's ball game tournament, Class E is left out of the brackets and must instead play exhibition matches in front of the whole school at the end: the boys against the baseball club and the girls against the girls' basketball club.

The night before Itona's arrival, Shiro told him they would go settle the score over the moon. Now that the two have shown themselves, what they hold against Korosensei over the moon is still unexplained.

  • Claimed brotherhood with Itona (Episode 11)

Shiro insists Itona and Korosensei are brothers despite different parents and upbringings, and the fight is presented as proof. Korosensei says he was raised as an only child and does not know what Itona means. The relation is unresolved.
