Episode Summary

Karma Time

Back from his suspension, Karma Akabane becomes the first to wound Korosensei, using anti-sensei knife shards hidden on his palm during a handshake. During a quiz he eats Korosensei's gelato and catches him out with anti-sensei BBs scattered on the floor when he comes over angry, then leaves a dead octopus on his desk. Korosensei serves the octopus back as takoyaki and vows to 'care for' Karma after every attempt.

A flashback reveals that Karma hurt a top student while defending a bullied Class E senior, and the homeroom teacher who had promised to back him blamed him and sent him to Class E. Karma leaps off a cliff with a gun, daring Korosensei to save him and be shot or let him fall and fail as a teacher, but Korosensei catches him in a web of tentacles, and Karma accepts him as a real teacher.

  • Basic knife training

Karasuma challenges Maehara and Isogai to land a hit and explains that basics pay off in both study and assassination: if they cannot touch him, they have no chance against a target moving at Mach 20.

  • Akabane's return and gelato trap

Karma Akabane returns from suspension and wounds Korosensei with anti-sensei knife shards taped to his hand for a handshake. During a quiz he eats Korosensei's prized gelato and catches him with anti-sensei BBs scattered on the floor.

  • Corrective care and cooking

Korosensei answers each attempt with corrective care, collecting soup in midair and criticizing Akabane's slow gun draw, while Akabane keeps pressing his assassination plans.

  • Rescue and reconciliation

A flashback reveals Akabane defended a bullied student and was transferred to Class E; Korosensei rescues him with tentacles and Akabane accepts he cannot win against this commitment.

Recent Timeline

  • Grenade ambush and Korosensei's warning (Episode 1)

Following Terasaka's plan, Nagisa clung to Korosensei with a grenade packed with gunpowder and 300 anti-sensei BBs, and Terasaka set it off by remote. Korosensei shielded Nagisa with his shed skin, then flew around town at Mach 20, brought back the students' house nameplates and threatened their families and friends. He then praised Nagisa's natural approach and scolded Terasaka, Yoshida and Muramatsu for not looking out for Nagisa, and Nagisa for not looking out for himself.

  • Sugino's baseball attempt and the tulip mix-up (Episode 2)

Sugino and Nagisa ambushed Korosensei with a baseball studded with anti-sensei BBs, but he caught it with a glove. He advised Sugino to make use of his own flexibility rather than copy the pitcher he idolized, and Sugino learned his own breaking ball. At lunch six students rushed him with anti-sensei knives; he swapped the knives for tulips, then realized the class had planted those flowers and tried to plant new bulbs as an apology.

  • Karasuma's arrival and the tree-branch ambush (Episode 2)

Karasuma met the chairman and took on Class E as its assistant homeroom and PE teacher. Meanwhile, as an apology, Korosensei let the students tie him to a tree branch and attack him, but the branch snapped as he grew cocky. He rolled around on the ground in a panic, then leapt onto the roof, assigned extra homework and fled.

  • Karma's return and the promise of 'care' (Episode 3)

Back from suspension, Karma became the first to wound Korosensei, using anti-sensei knife shards hidden on his palm during a handshake. He kept up the provocations, using stolen gelato to lure him into a trap of BBs scattered on the floor and leaving a dead octopus on his desk, but Korosensei served the octopus back as takoyaki and declared he would 'care for' Karma after every attempt.

  • The cliff dilemma (Episode 3)

Karma leapt off a cliff with a gun, daring Korosensei to save him and be shot or let him fall and be finished as a teacher. Korosensei caught him in a web of tentacles and said abandoning a student was never an option. Karma accepted he could not beat him and acknowledged him as a real teacher.

  • Government-sanctioned assassination and reward

The government reluctantly accepted the creature's own offer to teach Class 3-E on condition that he harms no students, and secretly tasked the class with killing him, since public knowledge would cause global panic. A successful assassination is rewarded with 10 billion yen.

Deduction Board

Facts

  • Speed and tentacles

Korosensei moves at a maximum speed of Mach 20 and has tentacles that regenerate when shot off.

  • Harmful BBs

Korosensei is harmed by the anti-sensei BBs, which the government developed specifically to kill him, though they are harmless to humans.

  • Why Karma was sent to Class E

Karma hurt a top third-year while defending a bullied Class E senior. His homeroom teacher, who had promised to always stand by him, sided with the top student and had him moved to Class E, and Karma says that teacher is dead to him.

Evidence

  • Nagisa's weak-point notes

Nagisa's notebook lists three weak points: Korosensei gets sloppy when showing off (the branch he was tied to snapped), panics easily (he rolled around on the ground after falling), and has no tolerance (he handed out extra homework from the roof).

  • Karma's first wound

Karma hid anti-sensei knife shards on his palm and wounded Korosensei with a handshake, the first attack ever to hurt him.

  • Cliff-jump dilemma

Karma leapt off a cliff with a gun: if Korosensei came to save him he would shoot him first, and if he let him fall he would be dead as a teacher. Korosensei caught him in a web of tentacles.

Inferences

  • Weak points are character flaws

The listed weak points are actually flaws in Korosensei's character rather than exploitable weaknesses.

  • A teacher who never abandons students

In the cliff dilemma Korosensei saved Karma without hesitation and said abandoning a student was never an option; when a student's life is at stake, he will always come to the rescue.

Suspicions

  • Motive for the deal

Even the government does not know why the creature asked to become Class 3-E's homeroom teacher.

  • Value of Nagisa's notes doubted

Kayano and Sugino are suspicious of how useful Nagisa's notes on Korosensei's weak points are.

  • Karma's lingering intent to kill

Karma still means to kill Korosensei with his own hands, but after being caught off the cliff his killing intent turns 'healthy' and he treats him as a real teacher.

Battle Record

Karma leapt off a cliff with a gun, daring Korosensei to save him and be shot or let him fall and stop being a teacher. Korosensei caught him with sticky tentacles, and Karma accepted that his best plan had failed.
